Certified copies of documents

In this type of notarial procedure, the notary certifies that a copy of an official or private document is identical to the original presented to them. This certification can be applied to entire documents as well as to specific parts of them, referred to as an “excerpt copy.” This allows citizens to present these certified copies or excerpts to specific persons, authorities, or institutions without risking the “loss” of their original documents.

According to Article 179, para. 2 of the Civil Procedure Code, “officially certified copies or excerpts of official documents have the same evidentiary value as the originals.”

To obtain this type of certification, you must present the original document to the notary, along with the copy you wish to have certified, as well as your identification document.
